Inc. 5000 Spotlight Interview with World Amenities CEO, Paul Hodge
The Hotel Amenities industry is rapidly changing. With the recent passing of AB-1162 banning single-use plastic and the growing market of vacation rental companies, World Amenities is on a mission to sustainably simplify hotel amenities. We interviewed the CEO of World Amenities, Paul Hodge, to get an insight into this changing landscape and his vision for World Amenities and beyond.
What is your vision for WA going into 2023?
Increasing sustainability initiatives, decreasing the volume of plastic, looking at recycling plans, returning used goods to be refilled, and alternative dispensing solutions. That's a tall order, but we can achieve these goals while maintaining the high product quality and fantastic customer service that customers expect from WA.
Tell us more about your values, story, and what you aim to accomplish for WA.
We are a service-based company that provides a necessary product, making customer service and product quality necessary. We have close relationships with our customers, understanding their needs and allowing them to influence what we make and how we make it to serve our industry better. We value quality, consistency, relationships, service, and sustainability. We aim to further grow our business with national accounts, expanding our reach nationwide and positively impacting change in our industry. We want to develop our established cruise line partnerships and nurture our current customer base.
What pain points did you aim to solve in the Hotel Amenities industry?
Minimize operational responsibility and cost by implementing solutions and creating solution-based products. There are many operational hurdles with the shift to dispensers; we can improve efficiency and sustainability by designing effective and innovative dispensing solutions and programs that can seamlessly implement for housekeeping and management.
Are there any exciting things you are working on now that you can disclose?
We are launching an updated version of our unique Magnetix dispensing system for 2023. We are currently trialing collapsible bags to replace gallon refill bottles, reducing plastic volume by 87% - which is exciting! We are launching Magnetix with Alterra Mountain Co of Mammoth Resorts, which is our first dive into the dispensers with these long-standing customers of WA. World Amenities is proud to be chosen as one of the 2022 Inc 5000 companies and one of San Diego's Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies. Our team is growing, and we welcome a veteran of the hotel amenities industry Terri Little as our inside sales coordinator, who rejoins her previous colleague, Laura Atkinson, WA National Sales Director, from their time together at Marrietta.
